Welcome to the Soft & Active Matter Lab! We are housed in the Annexe building of the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. Our research focuses on understanding the thermodynamics governing the self-assembly of nanometer-sized particles in polymers that could potentially open new avenues for the design and development of novel functional materials. We are also interested in learning more about the mechanism of locomotion in the 1 mm long nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans that shows a remarkable ability to maneuver through complex media.
