Adoption of right education and pedagogical practices

The research programme at IIT Bhubaneswar has been envisioned to help the nation to realize its dream of “Self Reliant India”, and to be of global class and standards, in the endeavor of creating an institute of global excellence as per the enhanced vision for the institute in 2016

• Inculcating the culture of design and algorithmic thinking trying to play the role of a designer, creativity, innovation, using every opportunity through lecture, laboratory and mini-project execution is given utmost importance while concept learning was the fundamental requisite. Prof Raja Kumar took the responsibility on to own shoulders, kept emphasizing this through almost all his interactions with the faculty from day one and tried mediating it through every faculty member.
• Ensuring of the above through right pedagogical practices and encouraging faculty to adopt innovative methods.
• Best teaching was rewarded, all through.
• The faculty is the key resource for teaching and hence ensuring that the faculty recruitment standards are raised despite there is shortage of quality candidates, by being patient in the rise of numbers. This may affect the institutional rank in the ranking systems, but there is no short-cut and this is an essential requirement. National programmes like Vajra, Gyan too were given emphasis and the institute got the highest number of Gyan courses sanctioned amongst the 2nd generation IIT’s.
