CV | Jeevanjyoti Chakraborty

Mechanical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur

Academic Background

Before joining IIT Kharagpur, I spent a brief stint as a DST-INSPIRE Faculty at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research (ICER) in the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore from May to August, 2016.

Prior to these, I did two postdocs.

I was a Research Fellow in the School of Mathematics in the University of Birmingham. My project was on the mathematical modelling of plant root growth, and I was working with Dr Rosemary Dyson.

Earlier, I was a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Mathematical Institute in the University of Oxford. My project was on the mathematical modelling of batteries, and I was working with Prof. S. Jon Chapman, Prof. Alain Goriely, and Prof. Colin Please.

I finished my Ph.D. at the Advanced Technology Development Centre of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP). My Ph.D. supervisor was Prof. Suman Chakraborty. The broad area of my doctoral research is electrokinetically actuated micro-/nanoscale transport.

Before my Ph.D., I had graduated with a Dual Degree - Integrated Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) from the Mechanical Engineering Department of IIT Kharagpur. My B.Tech major was Mechanical Engineering (Core) and my M.Tech specialization was Mechanical Systems Design.
