I was born on 6th January, 1978 in a remote village Panithar of Sabang in the district of Paschim Midnapur, West Bengal, located nearly 38 Kms from the campus of IIT Kharagpur. My journey was started from such an interior village without any basic amenities like electricity or telephone at that time. A single mud road was the only means of communication which was often deluged during rainy season. My academic career begun from village’s bengali medium primary school ‘Panithar Prathamik Vidyalay’ and thereafter completed Madhyamik with distinction in 1994 from ‘Karkai Vivekananda Vidyapith’ under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Next I joined in a reputed Bengali medium school, ‘Jalchak Nateswari Netaji Vidyayatan’ and finished higher secondary education in 1996 under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Thereafter, I got my admission for graduation in Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur under University of Calcutta and secured first position in the entrance test. I was fortunate to get inspiration and blessings from the principal maharajji - Swami Suparnanandaji and the distinguished professors of the mission. The “D. Mondol Gold Medal” was awrded to me for academic excellence for the year of 1996-99 in Narendrapur Mission. I received B.Sc. in Statistics (Hons.) with 1st class in 1999 along with a national scholarship from Calcutta University and M.Sc. in Applied Statistics & Informatics from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2001. I completed PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 2007. On 5th January 2007, ISCA Young Scientist Award was awarded to me by The Hon’ble President of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam in the 94th Indian Science Congress held at Chidambaram, Pondicherry. Thereafter, I got an aopportunity to work as a senior lecturer (2007-2009) and assistant professor (2009-2013) in the School of Medical Science & Technology of IIT Kharagpur. Presently I am working as associate professor in the school.

I belong to a very closely knit family including my father (Asit), mother (Usha), younger brother (Chinmay) and my wife (Rashmi). My father is a professional surveyor and mother is a house-wife. My younger brother is currently working as Assistant Professor in BIT Mesara. My wife Dr. Rashmi has been recently awarded by PhD from IIT Kharagpur and currently working as post doctoral research associate. She has also received "University Gold Medels" in both B.sc and M.sc.
