The MFM group, led by Dr. Jayanta Das at IIT Kharagpur, is engaged in various aspects of materials processing, properties and characterization. Current areas of research include Materials related issues in new bulk nanostructured and glassy alloys, Material design for high strength and high temperature applications, Process and Microstructure Design for better properties in low density and super-strong alloys, Synthesis and Phase Transformation behavior of materials at nano-scale, Structure-Property-Processing relationship in nanostructured magnetic and magnetocaloric materials, Experimental and numerical studies on Plasticity and nanostructuring in Low-stacking fault energy materials. We have deep interest on Bulk Metallic Glasses and High Entropy Alloys.
