  1. Matlab and Simulink: Matlab and simulink are very useful sofwares for all branches in science and Engineering. Matlab is a very easy programming language. Simulink (a part of Matlab) is a very user friendly environment for diffrent kinds of simulations including electrical circuits. Matlab and Simulink are freely available to all members of IIT Kgp. To get Matlab, you have to just create a user account here Within a few working days you will get an email with steps for accessing MATLAB and Simulink. After that you can either download and install Matlab in your own computer or use it online. Matlab in your own computer may be faster than the online version. However, to install Matlab in your own computer you may need 5-10 GB space and also a fairly good computer. Installing Matlab for your own may become very useful later also.

  2. LtSpice: Spice is a widely used software for electrical circuit simulation. A lite version of this software, called LtSpice, is available freely here. Unlike Simulink, this software is only for electrical circuits simulation. Therefore, it is only a few MB in size, very easy to install and use.

  3. You can use either Simulink or LtSpice for simulating your circuits. Both are very easy and fun to use.
Other circuit simulators that I like includes Proteus, falstad (free and online), multisim from NI, multisim live, systemvision from Simens (free and online)

  4. Recording Online-Class: You can record our online classes using Logitech Capture or OBS Studio or other similar software.
Recall that Prof. DDN explained how AC-DC rectifier circuits distort the sinusoidal waveform of the supply voltage (reference). Simulate this effect in Simulink or LtSpice. After that try to minimize this problem by inserting inductors and capacitors here and there in the circuit. See whether you can lower the waveform distortion problem
